Traning with the Illinois NAVHDA Chapter

We train you to develop a solid hunting dog through a step-by-step, proven process. Emphasis is on pointing, retrieving, and teamwork. We sponsor training clinics, where those more experienced help out the novice. Where everyone shares your pride when your dog does well.

NAVHDA also conducts four types of tests. The Natural Ability Test evaluates a pup's natural talent; the Utility Preparatory test is designed to evaluate dogs at a mid-point in their training for utility ; the Utility Test measures the trained dog's usefulness in all phases of hunting; the Invitational Test (NAVHDA Int'l) measures the advanced skills of a fully trained versatile champion. All dogs are rated against a standard, not against other dogs.

NAVHDA is second to none in our training and testing program and offers the only such program throughout the United States and Canada. We follow the training methods of authors Sigbot Winterhelt and Edward D. Bailey in their book, The Training and Care of the Versatile Hunting Dog published by the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association.

So ... what's stopping you? Start to increase your hunting pleasure now. Contact us and begin to share our members' determination to develop better hunting companions for every hunter.
